The Muwekma Ohlone
All of San Francisco once belonged to the Ohlone. This land was taken away from the First People and polluted. Today, over one and half million gallons of seconday effluents enter the Bay daily - this is mostly half treated sewage. What do you feel about this injustice done to Mother Earth? The City and County of San Francisco and the Board of Supervisors have passed several Resolutions honoring the the First People of San Francisco the Muwekma Ohlone but nothing much beyond that. Most Whites feel a guilt complex because some of them understand that up until 1924 which is not too long ago - Whites could kill a Native American and no harm could come to them. Do you think this is right? The Governor of California passed several edicts encourgaing Whites to kill Native Americans. Young Native American children were captured and used as slaves. Others forced into Boarding School where they wer taught English and forced to forget and speak their native toungue. Do you think this is right? Today the Muwekma Ohlone number about 500 and are doing pretty well considering the whole world was guning them down. www.muwekma.org
